This page describes Vehicle, M.D. specifically. For this app, the online functions described below are exceptions to the general Vanille app privacy statement that data stays on the device.

Who operates the app

Vehicle, M.D. and its diagnostic services are operated by Dr. Michael Lauer, Neuhöfer Straße 43a, 63263 Neu-Isenburg, Germany. For privacy questions or requests concerning data sent to the service, contact michael.lauer@vanille.de. See the legal notice for provider details.

Vehicle data stored on your device

Your garage, saved diagnostic scans, live recordings and preferences are stored in the app’s local database. They can include vehicle identification numbers (VINs), vehicle names, technical information, timestamps, fault codes and sensor readings. The app does not continuously upload your garage or recordings. Device backups are controlled by your Apple/device settings.

Online vehicle identification

When the app identifies a vehicle from its VIN, it sends the VIN to the Vanille service at api.cornucopia.dev. This can happen while adding a vehicle, saving a scan for a new vehicle or refreshing vehicle information. The service may query Vincario or the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) vPIC service with that VIN to obtain technical vehicle details.

The service stores VIN lookup results in a server-side cache so repeated requests can reuse them. This cache is not removed when you delete the app or a vehicle from the local garage. Contact us with the VIN concerned if you want a server-side record reviewed or deleted. Do not include unrelated diagnostic data in that request.

Network requests also expose the connecting IP address and ordinary HTTP request information to the hosting infrastructure. VINs appear in lookup request paths, so server access or error logs can contain them. This service is not an offline-only feature.

Feedback you choose to send

Submitting the in-app feedback form sends your message to our feedback service. It also includes app version/build and basic device information such as the device model and operating-system version. If you select a vehicle, its VIN and vehicle details are included. If you select a diagnostic scan, its capture data and related metadata are included. Selecting a live recording includes recording metadata such as the recorded parameters, sample count and duration.

Feedback is used to investigate and answer the reported issue. Avoid including personal or sensitive information that is not necessary for support. Contact us if you want submitted feedback reviewed or deleted; deleting the local app does not delete feedback already sent.

PDF reports and other sharing

Reports may contain a VIN, vehicle information and diagnostic results. Exporting and sharing are initiated by you through the system share sheet. A recipient or service you select, such as Mail, Files or a printing service, handles the shared document under its own settings and policies. Please review the document before sharing it.

Purchases, advertising and tracking

The full-version unlock uses Apple’s StoreKit. Apple processes the purchase; the app checks the entitlement to enable purchased features. We do not receive your payment-card information through the app. The app does not include advertising or an advertising-tracking SDK.

Managing your information

You can remove stored vehicles, scans and recordings through the app, and remove the local app database by deleting the app. Online VIN cache records and submitted feedback are separate and can be addressed by contacting us. You may also contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information held by our services, or to raise a privacy concern. You can contact your relevant data protection authority if a concern remains unresolved.
