For help with Vehicle, M.D., email michael.lauer@vanille.de. Include the app version, your iPhone/iPad model, iOS version, vehicle make/model/year and adapter model. Please do not send a VIN or diagnostic capture unless it is needed to investigate your issue. The app also has a feedback form where you can choose to include vehicle or scan information.

Connecting to a vehicle

Use a supported Wi-Fi or Bluetooth LE OBD2 adapter and an OBD2/EOBD-compatible vehicle. Plug the adapter into the diagnostic socket, switch the ignition on as instructed by the vehicle manufacturer and select the adapter in the app. Allow Bluetooth or local-network access when requested. For Wi-Fi adapters, connect to the adapter’s network and check its documented host and port.

Bluetooth Classic-only ELM327 adapters are not interchangeable with Bluetooth LE adapters. The ELM327 label alone does not guarantee compatibility. The available sensors and diagnostic functions depend on both the vehicle and the adapter.

Exploring without an adapter

Choose Install Demo Data on the welcome screen. You can open the sample vehicles and scans without connecting to a real vehicle. The samples are examples, not diagnoses of your car.

Reports and sharing

Open a saved scan and tap the PDF report button. Review the report, then use the iOS share sheet to print it, save it to Files or pass it to a sharing app such as Mail. Sharing destinations depend on the apps and services configured on your device. Check the report before sharing: it can contain a VIN and other vehicle information.

Purchases

Vehicle, M.D. offers a one-time full-version unlock through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Restore purchases using the same Apple Account used for the purchase. If the product cannot be loaded, check your internet connection and try again. Purchase and refund handling is provided by Apple.

Understanding results

Stored, pending and permanent OBD2 codes describe different statuses and can overlap. Additional UDS/KWP results from supported control units are separate from the standard OBD2 summary. Codes with an unknown format are shown in hexadecimal. A fault code identifies a reported condition; it does not by itself prove that a particular part needs replacement. The app does not replace an official emissions or roadworthiness inspection.
